@Wraith3: I’m a gen Xer who was in his 20s when the prequels were released…and I can tell you from my generation with no nostalgia, Star Wars died somewhere during phantom menace.

Say what you will about the sequels, at least they look good and the acting is decent. EVERYTHING about the prequels were bad. CGI looked worse than John Carter. Acting was wooden because it was the early days of green screen acting. Dialogue is the standard Lucas-atrocious .

The 3rd is watchable, but if PM and AotC were the first SW movies made and the franchise didn’t already have a legion of adoring fans from the OG trilogy, we would have never seen the 3rd because they would have stopped making them.

@MigGui: No…it’s actually better to branch out to new fans and replace those that obsess about source material. Take Star Wars for example. The kid who played anakin as a kid was bullied so badly online because of Phantom menace by neckbeards that he developed severe mental illness and ultimately committed suicide. The sequel actors and directors are going through similar death threats and bullying. As did the voice actors from TLOU2. Or Witcher. Or Rings of Power.

You don’t want gamers and geeks as fans because they have nothing else in life but you.

I’d take millions of casuals that just watch the show and then move on with their lives if an episode or two is bad instead of obsessing about it.

@just1mohr: probably 2k cheap recent college grads with no practical experience, but who cares? Gamers already showed they will buy buggy pieces of junk on launch day and wait patiently for patches to fix the issues.

The lesson here is don’t be a chump. Blizzard had a big back to office call 9 months ago, and the employees that came back and uprooted their lives from out of state got laid off anyway. Bunch of stories on Twitter about it.

Work where you live, don’t live where you work. Company says you have to move or get laid off, take the severance and find something else.

@mogan: true but I honestly think the writers didn’t expect blowback to making this boring generic character less boring and generic. How dare they!

Masterchief has no personality and no life outside of fighting as a plot device in the game. That’s fine when there’s 20 minutes of cutscenes to string together. But not for a multi-season show.

Things like this has to happen or you simply run out of road with this generic protagonist.

@mushywaffle: I have to agree. I’m in my 40s and spent my childhood playing pittfall, kungfu, Mario, Metroid, etc.

It feels like the industry gets punished for moving forward though. New IPs fail before they can be iterated on, VR is pretty much dead, and instead everyone cries for reskins and remasters and indie and AAA companies get praised for 2d side scrollers and other retroware.

Most of the roided-out 80s action stars tried to transition to serious actors too and it never worked. Closest I ever saw was Copland with Stallone, but that movie isn’t great because of him. The rest of his other serious work is all done under the Rocky umbrella.

Good luck, but you’ll probably have to choose one or the other. Roids makes you look inhuman, so it’s tough to bring humanity to a role.

Only good part of invisible man was the suit tech spin they put on it. The idea that this genius multimillionaire tech CEO would stage his own death all so he can don potentially billion-dollar secret tech he personally engineered just to stalk his below-average girlfriend was so implausible that it was distracting from the movie.

Moss is a great actress, but it would be like if Fatal Attraction starred Steve Buscemi instead of a young Michael Douglas. People would be saying, “I’m sorry why is she obsessed with this man again?”

The fix is so obvious. Every expansion dies after casuals get their sets from LFR. Basically when people can’t auto-queue for the content they want they peace out. Solo queue PvP has all but replaced regular arena.

Blizzard knows RIO score is a thing. You could LFG matchmake mythic+ based on similar RIO scores, tailor the difficulty of the content around that score, and the rewards to the difficulty. Same with normal raids. Probably heroic too.

No matter how good the next Xpac is, as soon as LFR is exhausted the players will quit. They do not want to job interview and be scrutinized to run a dungeon or raid. They want to click a button and go pick flowers or mine ore until their queue pops.
