I need a video card upgrade now to play Medieval II .. i already got a new E6600 and a P5B Deluxe now i cant seem to decide on the video card there are many good mid range cards out there like the X1900XT ($260-$380), Geforce 7950GT ($280-$300), and the Geforce 7900GTO ($250) I originally wanted to get a 512mb X1900XT but everywhere I go online the 512mb version cost as much or more then the X1900XTX ($350) I really dont wanna spend more then $300 on a DX9 card and DX10 cards will use up 700+ watts of power so thats not even an option until they tone down the power requirements (their going to be $500+ too when they come out around November 14th) all things considered ill most likely end up going with the 7950GT because it has a better cooler then the X1900XT that is less noisy and produces less heat, it also uses less power then the X1900XT so 7950GT ftw!

its kinda unfair to put two gs's in SLI vs non crossfired radeons for higher resolutions :) but the radeons hold their own pretty well in 1 card vs two's

Nintendo has really gone downhill over the years in terms of consoles ... all the games they made for Gamecube was for Pretreen audiences and I dont expect Wii to be too far apart from that. Go with PS3 it will have alot more titles then Xbox 360 even if it is more expensive its worth it and you wont have to pay a stupid sub fee for xbox live + provide your own broadband too (like paying twice lol) all you need is a broadband connection

I agree, the average gamer wouldnt spend $400 on a single video card, also one thing nobodys commented on yet is that if you look at the technical specs on the two cards the ATI card has far better specs and only manages to stay on top of the nVidia card by a little or stay very close to its benchmarks, the only deal breaker for the nVidia card is that it cant have antialiasing and HDR on at the same time and if your going to spend $400 on a video card you want it to be able to do as much as possible. Also for those saying to wait for the DX10 video cards, when the DX10 cards DO ARRIVE you will have to wait several months for the prices to go down anyways because new video card releases are usually $300 or more when their in limited quantitys look at the launch of the intel conroe as an example I would go with an X1800XT 256mb ($230ish) or a 7900gt Ko 256mb ($280ish) for now if you really cant wait for an upgrade

Even if the cards arent DX10 compatible NOW im sure ATI will release DX10 Drivers when Vista is released later this year (the business version of vista comes out November or December) then the regular users Vista comes out January or Feb soon after you will see a flood of DX10 drivers for old hardware, you really think the video card companys would just forget about all the people running vista under older pc's ? they want their customers to stay loyal to them after all

if you guys bothered to read the article at all you would know WHY they matched up an OLD card vs a NEW card, its because they matched up the two cards around the same price range
