@whynotdairy I yelled that to the official SimCity facebook page. people have to know how good XL '12 is in comparison to SC. even for a two years old game (12 was just a patch to the 11 version..)
and most of all, IT WORKS OFFLINE and you got the rights to MOD it as you like...
A week later and... back to Cities XL 12. Seriously, there are MORE maps, they're BIGGER, you can make HIGHWAYS and custom bridges, the graphics ARE BETTER, game runs SMOOTHER even on maxed settings, there are a lot more details such as RCI density and you can CHOOSE the type of zoning, since it's OFFLINE you can MOD the game as you like it.
The same basic SimCity gameplay was all copied from Cities XL. The rest is just gloss, and there're important stuff that got left behind, stuff that made SimCity a great game years back.
@duhNeighbour their always online policy is a mere "DRM" imbued into the game... like Diablo 3. and like hackers wouldn't ever find a way to crack it - since SimCity is basically a single player game with some pseudo social interaction (it's not real time, it's more like turn based and some "AI" that uses the neighbors name to pretend you are interacting like sending firetrucks, or workers are coming from their city...)
Cities XL 12 is way better than this, and have all these features in an offline mode.
The fact the creature creator runs well doesn't mean the full game will run - in my computer it (the creature creator, and the in-game creator/cell level) runs smoothly with max settings. But in the creature/tribal phase it simply can't run with the shader settings on med/high. The only thing that keeps the frame rate low in my computer is the lightning effects (using ati X1600 256mb, core 2 duo 2.33, 2gb ram).
well, you can't have the whole world, like some people are still trying to... i'm happy with my 3 lead-consoles, still like the 360 better. and m$ should stick with their audience, aka not-japanese...
gta iv is great, so much of in-game detail... but it feels like they used too much of a "oil painting" filtering on its graphics - it's not a blur, and it's not jagged - it's just confusing to look at it... and the shadows are way too grainy... that's my complain about it, which makes the graphic not look all that great... but the game is awesome indeed.
