I used to have a Logitech MX1000; a big, heavy wireless mouse that did a good job in almost all my games. Problems with the reloading dock eventually made me look for a replacement and I ended up with the second generation Logitech G5 Laser. While I can recommend this piece of hardware to almost everyone, it has some drawbacks: it's not wireless and it only has five (more like two) buttons apart from the obvious left and right mouse buttons. For me these are not big issues, and the adjustable weight and sensitivity (great in FPS games) more than make up for them, but I can see why some would prefer something different.

The best thing to do is still to visit your local computer store and get a feel for the different things out there, and make your choice based on personal experience rather than what you read in magazines and online. :)
