I'm on Greg Goodrich's side. An example would be the movie Kick-Ass. While it put across several serious messages to the viewer, it keeps the viewer engaged with its humor and action.

Also, the multiplayer is kind of like Memorial Day. On Memorial Day, we reflect on the horrors of war and the great sacrifices of our soldiers, yet and the same time we host parades and celebrate. What are we celebrating? Our rights, our freedoms, our brothers and sisters. The multiplayer is a celebration, to add happiness to the message the developers try to get across. I played Medal of Honor 2010 and it was nothing fabulous, but I definitely was affected by the powerful ending.

The difference with these toys are that they are actually really fun to collect and look awesome. Rather than DLC being a non-physical object that you have no interaction with outside your game.

Out there for SSB: They could incorporate a squad mode where you pick 3 characters like in Marvel Vs. Capcom, and the controller could be used to select which character you want to be using.

@Kevin-V: You are right that there has been multiple other genres released, although the hype has leaned toward modern warfare 2 and especially killzone 2. I have never seen a game get as much hype as the 2 i just listed. Also the action-adventure games you listed are mostly shooter based. assasin's creed 2 has guns and shooting. resident evil 5, A LOT OF SHOOTING! prototype also has it's fair share of shooting.

Seems this year has leaned toward the shooter genre. Hope next year has more variety.

No biggy. It doesn't matter as long as the game is good. What happened to Super Mario Bros.? You don't hear complaints about SMB's graphics. That's cause it's a really good game. This is really pointless.
