[QUOTE="tomma"]Squall in final fantasy VIII just a whiny character!shalashaska88

Whiny? Why whiny? he rarely talks a lot in the game, let alone whine.

Tidus is whiny.

Yeah, I wish FFX would have focused on Auron more that that whiny little ***** Tidus.

It was most certainly worth it when I preordered. Paid my $199 Founder's pricing after launch...if I would have paid $15/month (not preordering and getting Founder status) every month since launch I would have paid $210 at this point. So, I've saved $11!!! LOL Now, of course, as more time passes, the amount of money I will save for paying for lifetime will continue to go up and up and up...

Anyways, I think it's a great game. Pay no attention to those that just say it's WoW with a Lord of the Rings skin...of course they play similarly...they're the same friggen genre. I can tell you that you can expect a much more mature community, nice story-line quests to go through, a beautiful environment, and it doesn't look like a cartoon. I'd like to elaborate further, but I'm at work wasting company time. :P

Not at all. Married with a child in the house and that's the last thing I want them to see me playing. I do play games with violence in them, but not bloody, gorey, cut your head off violence. Also, I typically don't start playing until my daughter has gone to bed.

AO is much better with the expansions (aka not the free version)...but you may as well try it out using a basic free account. You have nothing to lose.

you have a 30 day trial and then you cancel out if you don't want to payKingdomkey33

Yes, but you still have to buy the game to get the first 30 days free.

Only time I played WoW was a free trial and it bored me. I've wanted to try FFXI for a long time, but I've never seen where they've had a free trial... :|

Anarchy Online is your only hope.RK-Mara

Yes, but it's much much better if you buy the expansions and pay the monthly fee.

I currently play Guild Wars off and on for free, but I love(d) AO when it came out way back when. Few questions...

Does the free version restrict useage? I.e. only people who pay monthly get certain areas? Yes, only paying players can access Shadowlands and Alien Playfields.

Does free version have alot of content, pvp? Yes, for the most part, Rubi-Ka is a large world. Although, with expansions, there is better equipment, perks, more things to do and more areas to explore. I could never play the free version, it would completely bore me after seeing what more there is out there in the expansions.

Does anyone play, have a guild - or have any general advice for it? (I was an adventurer I think, but it won't let me use that account to play) Yes, I have played for 4 years and am an officer in a prominent org on the Atlantean Server. As far as general advice? Go ahead and try the free version, you have nothing to lose. I just think the people who dislike the game are people that haven't experienced how much expansion content adds. Like I said before, I could never go to just being a free player. If you want to know more specifics I'd be happy to elaborate...just ask what you want to know.

*Edit

Whats a good soloing profession I was thinking engineer if I remember right they have good pet stuff. A lot of professions are good soloers, these are probably easier/better though...Adventurer, Martial Artist, Doctor, Meta-Physicist, Engineer, Agent, Shade*, and Keeper*. * = Must have Shadowlands

Magebane

Interesting, it wouldn't let me post this with the word "C L A S S" in there...lol...so, I changed it to "profession" and my responses are in red. ;)

As one of the faithful that has stood by Anarchy Online for years, I sure as hell hope AoC has a good launch. I think it would help secure the future of AO for years to come, plus it might bring back some old players so they can see how much better things are now.
