Best game ever (excluding homeworld which is the mona lisa of gaming).
I started with dota around 6 years ago, then switched to hon for two years, thank god this came out so soon. I played LoL too, but quit forever around the time mordekaiser got added, i got to level 30 but i cant stand the report culture in that game, and it is not a challenging game. For you LoL lovers : your watered down, baby version of dota has very little in common with DOTA besides the most basic aspects of gameplay. Here you have a game in which your reaction time, strategy, tactics, time management, decision making and common sense are all determinant factors by themselves and will be put to the test every game, each time in a different way.
The complexity and depth of this game's mechanics will keep you hooked for YEARS as you never stop learning new stuff, unlike other clones of this game.
The only game that kept me feeling im still learning new tricks to greater extent then this one, and over a longer period of time, is EVE ONLINE, which i have played for years on end. Learning curve wont even begin to describe it, which is most of the fun : you will feel yourself improving as you accumulate knowledge in dota, until you have a match where you feel like a complete noob.
Dont try to formulate an opinion on this game just by playing it once or twice, this is the kind of game you need to play for six months to graduate to noob status, but you will be greatly rewarded in time, if not only by gaining the ability to watch Commentated ( live casted) tournament matches which i have come to enjoy even more then football(that's soccer for u americans ;) )
