You will still be playing the same games as someone on a console. Maybe slightly better graphics in 2-3 years. But you would have to upgrade your video card for the slight edge.

it's not going to cost $1,000 to build an i5 machine, nor are the new consoles going to cost $700 lol. Yes you can get an i7 3770k for 229, but you still need to get the rest of the machine. Hypothetically, even if you build pc with the same specs as a next gen console and it costs you the exact same, it doest matter. they are both for a different audience with a different purpose. Most people who play pc games also have a console. Almost every person who plays any video game has a console even if they use it only once a year.

Obviously a $3,000 machine will be more powerful than a $300 machine. I don't think theres any question about that.

Was an xbox 360/ps3 more powerful than a high end gaming PC when it was released. I don't think so..
