The original type of Populous game in a hand held, with some improvements.

I loved the original Populous on the Commodore Amiga. I tried to find a Windows version and found a DOS version, with no sound. In my search I found that they made a Populous game for the DS. It didn't get a good review, and I didn't have a DS so I passed at first.

I just got the new 3DS, and saw it plays DS games, and thought "I should see if I can find Populous at my Game Stop". It was there for 5 bucks. I thought, I will give it a try.

Man am I glad I got it. I love this game. The stylus control is awesome, and very perfect for this game.

It starts off very slow at first, and I thought that was just how it was going to be, and I wasn't crazy about that, but later rounds showed it to be the game I loved. One complaint is that the people walk to slowly. If you need to get them across your map it will take a long time. Another thing I am not crazy about is before any miracle they show an animation of your god doing something. It gets old fast, and I wish I could turn the miracle animations off. Other then that it is perfect.

Instead of being one type of god, you can choose between 5 types. Earth, wind, fire, harvest, and water gods. Each with different attributes, and strengths. A nice addition.

I generally respect Game Spots scores. Sometimes they are off, but the average User Score tends to add to the story. Both were low, 5.0 and 5.5 respectively, and I am glad I didn't let that deter me.

I know I am in the minority, and most will not appreciate it like I do. But it is the game I have been looking for for some time. I only wish they would make more Populous games, in 3D, or with higher resolutions on the PC. But given the luke warm reception, I do not anticipate such versions. Too bad. Too bad. I hope I am wrong and somebody makes a newer version.

But this one is definitely more then I expected.
