Another great addition to a fantastic series!

User Rating: 8 | Pokemon Moon 3DS

We all know the Pokémon formula by now: pick a starter, fight 8 gyms, beat the elite four, become the champion. While I’ve enjoyed every Pokémon game to date, Pokémon takes a new and fresher feeling break from the ordinary for their 7th generation of games and it certainly pays off.

Story: 7/10

The story in Pokémon has never been something that has been grand or magnificent and Pokémon Moon is no exception, however it does have some pretty epic moments that will make not skipping through the cutscenes and dialogue worthwhile.

Score: 8/10

Many important characters and legendary Pokémon have a very cool battle theme that you may find yourself pausing the battle just to listen to. Other than that, not too much stands out musically, but the soundtrack is good all around.

Characters/Character Development: 7.5/10

A lot of the characters are interesting and add a certain level of depth to your journey, but some characters like Hau and Lillie interact with you so often that you it can feel like your game is coming to a halt, especially at the beginning.

Graphics: 8/10

Since this is still on the 3DS, the graphics do look a bit pixelated, but even that can’t prevent this game from looking wonderful. Battles have better animations and look better than ever.

Gameplay: 9/10

Pokémon always has had and likely always will have amazing gameplay. Exploring the world of Alola gives you a great sense of adventure and although it may look small from the map, it certainly isn’t. It’s another fantastic world to visit.

Difficulty: 7.5/10 (0 being the easiest, 10 being the hardest)

During my play through I turned the EXP share off, and let me tell you, battles actually did get to be challenging, but it was a welcoming challenge. I felt as though I had to actually strategize and plan for how to take down other trainers rather than just overpower them.

Fun: 9/10

There’s just something about Pokémon that allows you to play the games over and over and never get bored of it. Constructing a team and watching them grow over the course of the game always feels so rewarding that by the time the game is over you still don’t want to put it down.
