A solid title from the Pokemon franchise; it does have flaws its well worth it, with cure graphics and a great plot
Graphics -
The game doesn't have outstanding graphics, but it's not supposed to. The spriting and pixel work is superb; each image perfectly displaying the emotions of the character being conversed with. The backgrounds are stunning, and work well with the sprites of the characters. Overall the graphics aren't exactly the best you'll see, but they work, and offer a cuteness element to the game. 7/10
Plot -
The PMD games always sport an amazing plot, with explorers of sky being no exception. The main plot is that you have turned into a pokemon, and you want to figure out why. There are many twists and turns you will not see coming, and the EoT/D/S plot has one of the best plots for a video game. You might find yourself tearing up at some of the sadder situations in the game. EoS has something new in the form of 5 "episodes" unlocked throughout the game; these provide some backstory to the plot you know from explorers of darkness / time. The plot is exceptional, and is one of the outstanding qualities of the game. 9.5/10
Gameplay -
The gameplay is somewhat repetitive. Players of mystery dungeon games will know the familiar random dungeons and pokemon encounters. The basic layout is trying to find a "staircase" that takes you to the next floor, and get to the last floor to fight a boss or exit the dungeon. This might get repetitive after a while, but the game makes up for it with a plot that makes you want to keep going, and some twists. The gameplay is good, but even good gameplay can get repetitive fast. 6/10
Overall -
The game is definetly underappreciated. It's a fun, cute game that sports a superb plot, and cutesy graphics. The gameplay can get repetitive, but that doesn't stop the game from being fun. Another thing is that the game has amazing music. Primal Dialga probably being one of the best video game musics of all time.
I'd give the game an 8/10
