What's with Gamespot and the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series?

It's time for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time Review. For the DS.

Well I'm reviewing a Pokemon game again. I guess after my Kirby Super Star Ultra review, I would stop reviewing Pokemon games for a bit.

So the story is basically the same as the previous game. You are transformed into a Pokemon, however, the story takes place in a different area. You first take a quiz again, and it determines your Pokemon. You pick your partner.(I got Turtwig and Piplup.) You find yourself on the beach. The screen jumps to your partner who tries to enter the Wigglytuff Guild, but is too much of a wimp, so he goes to the beach to see the Krabby blowing bubbles(he likes it) and finds you. Soon, a Zubat and a Koffing come and steal your friend's Relic Fragment, which is his most valued treasure(which will come to value later in the game). You go into Beach Cave to catch them. This is your first dungeon. After you reach the bottom, you now fight the two. After that, you go to the Wigglytuff Guild, where finally your partner wants to go in and not back down. It's real bravery, isn't it?

So now you become a team. This game is basically like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team with some new extras. Now you work for the Wigglytuff Guild, run by Wigglytuff and his assistant Chatot. Mostly you will have to go to dungeons to advance the story. Other days, you have to take missions on the board. Speaking of missions, there is new stuff. You can now go after outlaws. You need to go to the mission floor, then fight the criminal. Some involve taking an item back to a person(and no, you can't use the stolen item, it won't let you), and some involve just fighting someone. The classic missions are still there, the ones saving someone, escorting someone, and bringing someone an item. You get rewards for doing missions, but money will not be as much as it says. The money gets divided by the guild and you, so the guild gets most of it. You still get all the items(they don't divide items of course) and sometimes you get offers from Pokemon to join your team.

The story is different from the previous game, but the idea of transforming into a Pokemon remains. Someone is stealing the Time Gears, and if one is taken from it's place, then the place will be frozen in time. If they are all taken, the planet will fall into it's "paralysis" which will mean it will be completely frozen in time. Nothing will move, everything will stand still. I'm not gonna go into it much, for it will be revealing a lot of spoilers and I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate mail if I do.

The graphics and controls are the same as the previous game. If you want a taste of it, then check out my Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team Review.

There is an online mode in this game! You can find rescue requests from strangers, which will give you a lot to do. You can enter those infamous friend codes too. You can still do it wirelessly and with passwords. However, if you SEND a rescue request over Wi-Fi, expect to wait for a long time. Also, you can make news about your rescues and activity appear on your phones via text messages(standard fees apply) and e-mail. This means you don't have to constantly keep checking your DS!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time is a great game AND sequel. There are some similarities, but that's okay. This game gets an 8 out of 10 with the title of Great!
