So not worth the download time.

I suppose writing a review for a "game" that's still in a form of Beta is a useless project. But I have all the time in the world to rewrite this once I see any real change or improvements.

Basically PlayStation Home is supposed to be a virtual life simulation project. A social hub for those who have online access. Here you have access to meeting hundreds to even thousands of other plays from across the globe online and meet their virtual selves, carry on conversations with them, or engage in activities with them such as shopping or watching a movie. Granted in theory this would be a wonderous new way to explore online gaming and socialization. But this falls terribly short in the way of enjoyability but that's partly due to the human element I suppose.

Firstly I do not know when PSH will ever come out of it's Beta stage. Hopefully it will soon. But for now, since it's been in a mix of closed and open Beta nothing has really changed in the way of looks to the game. Sure the graphics are well put together and there are some places that are just stunning (like the view outside your simulated apartment). But others are in need of constant change. No one wants to see the same billboards day in and day out, or the same commercials. I think I've seen the Uncharted 2 video preview too many times by now.

As for PSH's playability, it's very easy to work with. Simple visual commands are easily selected with the controls and communication is easy either via a usb/bluetooth headset or keyboard. Having to type out stuff with the controller is a little annoying even with the smart chat system. Maneuvering around the Home world is easy as long as you don't mind the slow loading times inbetween different zones.

In customization, it's possible to make infinite possibilities on how you and your apartment will look like. In these Beta stages your given only a limited amount of clothing and furniture selections so basically everyone's apartments look the same, and guarenteed everyone is dressed alike. Unless you're prepared to be nickle and dimed for the scant few items that are for sale. Sure it's a great idea to have a mall and be able to shop for virtual clothes, I just don't think I'm ready to be charged constantly to do so. I mean we're being nickle and dimed enough for DLC on games as it is.

Personally I think there's a lot left to work on with Home. But again it's the element of people that also can ruin any of the fun. I suggest if you're a female who wants to check this out, be careful what you do. Single, taken, married, it's all the same. Like being in an early 90's chatroom with hundreds of single lonely guys (and just like then in this case they're all under 15), who are going to ask you out, or provide you with lewd and explicit conversations. It's not always a pleasant experience.
