I admit, it could be more colorful, at times, but for a game based on Tomb Raider, you have to remember you are in kindof a dingy ancient environment. The jungle has a strong feel to it.

It doesn't sound breathtaking, but what I liked is it has a quiet gentleness to the sounds. With all the action you are doing, it is kindof nice to not hear constant in-your-face smashing sound effects

People say this genre is overdone. I completely disagree! I think 3rd person shooters are overdone! This has a slashing element that is not done enough. I like getting close and personal with my prey! I will admit, I would like to see the jumping and rolling feel more fluid, but it is still beautiful athletics. The swordplay seems simplistic, but that isn't so bad. You have simple, effective moves.
This is a fun game! I can't wait to keep playing it.
I spent a lot of time playing Tomb Raider 1 and 2 and Prince of Persia 3D for the PC and to me this feels like a refreshing upgrade. The graphics are beautiful in their own way (the shimmer and glow of the treasures is awe inspiring). On my older (2005) laptop, it works smoothly and responds well.
I loved Tomb Raider, but I also adore the hack and slash beat-em-up action presented in Lord of the Rings Return of the King. To me, this game combines the elements beautifully!
You can't call a game lousy just because there are better ones out there. And it's not fair to call a game uninspired because there are other titles out there using the same action platform standards. That's what inspired means -- it's more of the same great stuff!
Maybe I've been playing classic games too much - Sonic the Hedgehog, Vectorman, and Earthworm Jim for Sega Genesis. But these games make me hungry for more platform elements ... not more of the shooting seen in so many games today. I I feel like the Black Buccaneer really delivers that.
