Phantom Brave is a very original RPG, featuring unique battle system and strategy...

User Rating: 9 | Phantom Brave (Limited Edition) PS2
I would give this game a 9.0. the game opens up telling you the story, and a quick tutorial where you need to defeat the enemys, and all that, but as the game progresses to the third level, which takes about 20+ minutes from the begining, new options open up and you begin to get a feel of the game. the game encourages you to plan out strategy, to defeat the enemy, but before i get to that, i will talk about the main things.

confine: the ability that Marona has to summon a phantom to the battle. she starts out pretty weak, so you should bust out some phantoms like ash and others you create later, but it depends on the situation. if you have a great white wolf with 15 slimes on the other side of the field, you want to send out your middle-strong characters, and have them gaurd Marona, because she's the only one that can summon phantoms, then pick up one of the phantoms you summoned, and throw them across to the enemy base area, then at that point you'd want to move closer, so the game gives you the ability to do crazy things that just work in the game.

Combat: its pretty good. as you level up, you get more attacks and the attack power is higher, but there are 7 types of attacks. physical, which includes strike, toss, body swing (when you grab a friendly, or non friendly character) and others. strike is a normal attack, consuming no specail power and such, and other attacks, like ground breaker and killer spin take up high amounts of attack energy stuff, but others like magic take up other types of attack energy, while some cost 0. you need to use higher power attacks, that take up more energy on stronger characters, for example, the boss is at the end of the area, you confine a fighter class and valkerie or whatever next to you on objects that are idea to use for each of their classes, like a rock or pillar, which gives a lot of attack and defence, and send them to walk up the steps, kill some enemies (when its their turn.) then confine your strongest phantom with your strongest item to the item that protects other items, and confine those items to phantpoms to give them attack boosts. then let the strongest charactert fight the boss with your fighters whil;e protecting marona with the other dudes tyou summpn, then take out the rest, there are many fun and interesting attacks that damage the foe or toss them aross the level.

Throwing and lifting: throwing helps get equipment across the level and can throw enemies off the cliff to instantly kill them (kills most) but that comes as a consequence to kill them off the cliff. the others level up! so think wisely, like if some guy gets on your nerves and he's too strong, kill him off the edge, by throwing him, and if he cant be thrown off he teleports back up. so then hit him and end your turn. but yeah, throwing can be used on anything, so you can throw the guy toward the enemy, throw an item to a friend, or kill enemies off the edge.

Items: you can confine items to people, and depending on the obtain rate, you can take that item back to the house automatically and sell it or equip it out of battle on phantom island, where you create characters, learn new stuff, level up items, set up and decorate the land, descpver secrets, etc. then you can bring them back to battle and with their new attacks recieved from leveling them up by killing enemies, you can make them recieve mana, which lets them level up and get new attacks, then they can kill better..... you can also steal items from enemies, and try to confine them to a character so they can keep them, but if the character has the item and his turns run out, he disapears and you may get the item sometimes, or it will remain there. items help a lot, completely changing movesets. items can be a rock, a pillar, a sword, a tree, a dead opponent, and much more (huh? pumpkins, bricks and pots???) ( if you kill opponents in battle , but you cant confine to them or take them home)

Blacksmith, fusionist, healer.shop keeper, etc.:

The blacksmith allows you to level up items and make them get new moves, the fusionist lets you combine characters, letting one dissapear forever, and the other get stronger and recieve attacks only for example a fighter class can have. the healer keeps healing in and out of battle, and gets you back to normal, for a cost. the shop keeper earns money while you are out, and you can buy and sell stuff to him. the titlist assigns titles to people, which can make them stronger, for example, a ruined slime can be changed to a cool slime, which gives him better stats. dongeon monks let you create dungeons and random dungeons for a price.
they level up if they do whatever they do a lot to people outside of battle. (if the healer heals alot, she can level up.)

and i forgot the rest, but the game is very uniqe, and you have a lot of fun and it is well more worth the $10 i got it for.

yay! misspellings and whatever, sorry. bye!
