Most addicting game ever

User Rating: 10 | Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2 DC
PSO is a fantastic game, even by todays standards. The game is great online, but Sega discontinued the online mode so only the offline mode matters.

PSO is about the mysterious pioneer 1 crash. You are aboard the pioneer 2, and the principal has hired you to search Ragol (the planet that pioneer 1 crashed on) for signs of pioneer 1. While on Ragol you recieve messages from the principals daughter Red Ring Rico. Eventually your job is not only to search Ragol, but to find Red Ring Rico.

PSO is fun, but it can totally consume your life. You could beat the game 10 times, but the search for new weapons keeps you going. And with the goal of reaching level 200, you can really end up spending a lot of time on this game.

Since online mode doesnt exist anymore, if you look back on this game PSO version 2 is better than the original. The original is good still, dont get me wrong. But version has updated graphics, more rare weapons, more features, more quests, the new ultimate difficulty, and includes all of the original content. And unlike most RPGs you can train to level not 100, but 200!! If you have the original PSO, you can transfer your pso character to version 2, which is pretty cool. The problem with version 2 was back in 2001 when version 2 came out, you had to pay to play online. The monthly fee was 5$, and you had to buy it in 3 month blocks. As to where the original PSO was free to play online. Version 2 was better in the long run, with the original PSO and all the extras. Its also easier to find. But since the Dreamcast was a limited time console most game retailers dont sell Dreamcast games. It can be found cheap on Ebay ( new of course, i wouldnt recommend buying used games on Ebay). The original PSO can be found on Ebay, but 95% of the time its used and most of the time more expensive (again i wouldnt recommend buying games used on Ebay). Although most game retailers dont sell Dreamcast games any more. You can buy other versions, like the xbox or gamecube version. But it doesnt compare to having the original Dreamcast version.
