Ubi Soft has announced that it will publish Warlords IV: Heroes of Etheria at the end of 2003. The game is being developed by Melbourne, Australia-based Infinite Interactive, which is headed by Steve Fawkner, the creator of the Warlords series. The studio that's produced the series since its debut in 1990, Strategy Studies Group, recently broke into two companies, and Infinite Interactive has taken the reins of Warlords IV's development.

Warlords IV will feature a new combat system designed to speed up play, a 3D terrain system, persistent heroes, and enhanced AI for computer opponents. There will be a new dynamic, open-ended single-player campaign and 10 different factions with unique units that players can choose from.

"We think the new features in Warlords IV will make the fans very happy," said Steve Fawkner, president of Infinite Interactive. "The speed tactical system adds a whole new element to the gameplay and speeds up strategic gameplay without giving up the tactical element to the game. Even traditionalists should be pleased."

Warlords IV is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2003. For more details, check out our previous coverage of the game.
