I've been playing FPS, RTS, RPG games for more than a decade, and the Overwatch community is the worst I've ever seen. The game is a COOPERATIVE, TEAM-BASED FPS, where people choose heroes that should complement the overall group, that HELPS to COOPERATIVELY achieve a goal, which is of course, to win the game. However, regardless of whether you play the competitive mode, or the quick play mode, you will have a hard time pulling other people out of the "I'm the star" mindset. I'm forced to play healer 80+% of games (even though I'm a fairly good DPS), because if I don't we simply won't have one, which under normal circumstances, you should have 2. There are situations where that's not necessary, but usually it is. Most of the time, if you request that someone change to help the team, you're rudely told to mind your own business, or worse. When you decide to play the quick play version, you're even TOLD you're playing the quick play version, which means (to them) they can do what they want, and they really don't care who they're screwing over. The whole team suffers when someone who can't DPS will not play another role, and allow someone who actually CAN kill people use the hero, and instead waste their talent keeping the former alive to NOT kill people.
Blizzard has been doing a good job of introducing content and new heroes and cosmetics and such, but they have not even attempted to correct the 5 year old mentality of the look at me generation, and even encourages them with the "play of the game" highlight. Basically if you don't end up with 5 DPS in a game, you're lucky.
The game play is pretty good, and there are unique heroes that each have something different to offer. At first it was one of the best games I've played, but as the game has gotten older, most of the decent players that would work as a team have moved on. Buyer beware, if you like to win, prepare to be disappointed, as since Blizzard won't play babysitter and force AT LEAST ONE HEALER AND ONE TANK, you'll have to hope the other tools on the other side of the screen are half as good as they think they are.
