As far as side scrolling anime goes, this game's not half bad.

Even after just receiving the game, I'm hooked. It's got a unique setup to acquiring new spells, and leveling up. You can level through not battles, but what particular foods you eat, leaving you the brilliant idea of max filling your health by leveling just when your HP is about to hit zero.
The ideas are fresh enough that it isn't that same old same old RPG. While it may be frustrating to constantly have to juggle your inventory, it holds up enough to keep you from wanting to throw the controller down. As everyone says, the graphics are impressive for a side scroller, and live up to the hype. Very brilliant detail is put into each character, and although it tends to be just a slash heal slash heal experience, it's not all bad. For those looking for a decent enough RPG to spend some hours on, I'd suggest picking it up. It's not the next Zelda or Final Fantasy series, but it's a quality enough game that if they made a sequel, I'd consider buying it. It may not win the gold, but Odin Sphere will at least take the bronze.
