No Man's Sky - Beyond: Very fun and cool game!

After trying (and failing) to run NMS on my older (but still capable) PC, I had nearly given up on ever trying this title. Then I acquired a PlayStation4 Pro and discovered NMS was a popular title on that platform as well, thus, I was finally introduced to Hello Games' grand baby. Fortunately I had my son by my side (still a relative newcomer to the universe, but a veteran compared to myself) as I took my tentative first steps into this beatiful, scary and sometime buggy, new world. He was able to guide my furtive actions and help me sidestep some of the game's earlier pitfalls (such as running out of inventory space, an ever-present issue that plagues me to this day) and what to do once I inevitably died at the behest of a wild, aggressive beast (oddly named only "F" by the discovering player. Or perhaps not so oddly, as I found myself exclaiming the "F"-word every time I encountered one of the creatures thereafter.) I've since logged about 60 hours in NMS and climbing, so obviously I'm enjoying this experience, and I'm even strongly considering investing in a PSVR rig to even more fully immerse myself in this constructed universe. There are still some downsides to my adventure, the afore-mentioned inventory management being the first and foremost of those. It just seems as if you're required to haul a LOT of varying materials from place-to-place in order to craft the necessities and the luxuries of simply existing day-to-day with nowhere else (except your already-crammed spacecraft) in which to store the not-yet-needed-but-who-really-knows-when-required crafting supplies. I'm always very hesitant to sell new/unusual items due to not knowing if/when they'll be required and if I'll ever be able to locate that same resource again. Another HUGE limitation is the seemingly infinite number of resources that stack to only 5 deep, and then eat another entire inventory slot for the next stack of 5, and so on. This should be increased to at LEAST tenfold and allow 50 (or even the old max slot stacking of 250) items until the spillover occurs. This ONE change alone would make my player experience HUGELY more positive and less stressful. I understand that the intent of the game isn't to have you hauling around every single item you find throughout the entirety of the game, but the 5-max stack items are just too limiting, period. OK, for some VERY SELECT rare and unusually valuable items the 5-stack limit would make sense, so if you discovered a treasure trove you wouldn't necessarily be able to easily cart the entire load off in one go, but it should be much more restricted than the garden-variety of items that currently suffer from the 5-max limit. Another issue I've encountered is with large deposits of ground resources not spawing/displaying properly, as in there are only a few dozen of the item being actually mineable when there are clearly more resources displayed, they are just somehow "locked out" from the Terrain Manipulator's grasp. I've only encountered this a time or three, but it's very frustrating when that resource you (in some cases, desperately) need is right in front of you but tantalizingly out-of-reach. I'm greatly anticipating my continuing journey in NMS and especially the VR experience to come (if I ever, in fact, make that technological leap,) and so far I'm not regretting diving into this title with all it's vast wonders and limited (but frustrating) limitations. Hopefully a little more polish in future iterations will have this apple shining even brighter than it does currently, if there's one thing NMS manages to instill, it's hope.
