A Game That Is Hard On Your Own, But Easier With A Friend!

One aspect of video games that a good number of them tend to visit, in one way or another; is the aspect of using time travel to travel to different points in history. This game, along with "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time", was one of the first video games to use that aspect as a major plot point. While there are three different characters to choose from, they all play pretty identically to each other, meaning that no one is at a disadvantage if they have to choose a different character. The plot is that three warriors trained in the Ninja arts (hence the name of the game) must stop the evil Mars Corporation from going back in time and rewriting history for their own evil purposes. While this concept sounds easy in theory, most of the time, getting through the game is anything but! It's not so much that there are an overwhelming number of enemies, but rather, the bosses themselves are ALL "Damage Sponge Bosses" that all take a TON of hits to make them finally go down, even on the EASIEST difficulty level, while your character will be LUCKY to survive three hits WITHOUT getting any health refill items, which are few and far between! Also, if you get a scroll that lets you use your secret move, you better USE it before you die, because you won't get to keep it if you LOSE a life! While the graphics are VERY beautiful for a 16 bit game, the music and sounds are great, and while the translation is a little off, it's still understandable, it's the sheer difficulty of the game that brings the score of this game down more than anything else! Granted, the game is beatable, but there will probably be a LOT less credits used by fighting with a friend than on your own! One thing is for sure, if you can beat this game, consider yourself a TRUE video game expert! I recommend this to players looking for a real retro challenge! Enough said, true believers!
