Meatless Chicken Bone

Ok, great gameplay, nice battle system, fantastic story....but please...take
one step back...ignore the half naked girl with the dirty mouth, and take a good look at the whole game itself....

I'm conflicted. Was this game inteded to be for the PS2? If so, I'd gladly give this game a 7.5 - 8.0 rating. But, it appears Squenix had something decent going, and must have forgotten to put the final touches on it. It's like purchasing a 3D television and an aerial to go with it.

Seriously, would someone like to tell me, what the ef is all of this blu-ray space being wasted on??

A rather small sized world with hardly any areas or texture?
The same stupid enemies attacking?
Music has singing...but it loops every ten seconds?
Voice acting less than half of the time?
Subpar graphics and lack of charecter creation?

Hey...all of the above would be just fine....If only the game were a bit longer than it is....And, I don't really mind the dullness and monotony of the running back and forth between my house and the library to the same upstairs room on the right, but I wish I at least had something pretty to look at along the way there.

Oh and another huge annoyance -- Squenix going back to the traditional O button for OK, but only during gameplay, not within the menu or dialog.

Ok so the focus is on this posh book that follows you around, it strangely reminds me of a floating head that was in this other game I played a thousand years ago. Lots of "word play." You find words that give your equipment and magic certain boosts. It's words, or ancient dialect that you see swarming around the elemental shards that are summoned during your special attacks....Also the same dialect appears to be swarming as a disease around the bodies of the infected. It all adds up to a nice story and adventure.

Still, it is fun if you just care to run around on random missions like a traditional RPG. It's really easy to keep up with, even if you're trying to accomplish several things at once, you don't get so scatter brained playing this one mainly due to the aforementioned monotony.

Bottom Line -- Hardly worth bargain bin prices.
Square Enix: I think it's time we went about our own separate ways.
