If you love Nicktoons then you will love this game in spite of the cartoony graphics and blocky cut seans.

User Rating: 8 | Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island PS2
Overall the game is entertaining as you smack trees, rocks, breifcases, shells, lockers, & health crystals as you try to find your counterparts, the choosen ones, level after the level. The monsters get to be a little repetative, however you will find more interest in collecting objects, including salvaged items, to unlock secret levels, costumes, and so on. Each character is easy to maneuver and all of them have their own special moves which can be very entertaining. My favorite was Timmy Turner's attack as his fairy godparent, Cosmo, turns in to a hammer and Timmy uses him to attack foes and find objects. Children ages 4+ will love this game, however there are some areas and main battles that they may find challenging as playing this as an adult I struggles on many of the special jumps and ending level battles.

Game Cons: Graphics are blocky, easy to fall of cliffs or ledges, characters can walk in to walls or other surronding areas that you shouldnt be able to go through, foes are repetative and do not become any more challenging as you progress through the game, hard to find special salvage items, and there are no walk throughs, hints, or cheat codes to aid you in your game play. There is one cheat code that can be found, however the code doesnt work and once in the cheats screen there is no way to activate it once it is typed in. You have to collect a large amount of items to unlock costumes, secret levels and so on. When I had reached the last level I had only unlocked 2 costumes and one secret level for Patrick, the "Goofy Goober" secret timed level.

Game Pros: Multiplayer modes, you can play the other Nicktoons as you discover them, Nicktoons are funny throughout the game play and cut scenes, you can replay past levels to locate salvage items you couldnt find before, game instructions are clear and there is a crab to aid you during game play, not to mention other Nicktoons that will occassionaly offer help when you reach different areas of the game. Levels are different and special areas imitate certain things from the actual TV shows. Character moves are easy to do and entertaining, even down to the missles that each character shoots for example, Timmy Turner shoots starts, and Patrick farts. When pausing the game you can easily have the 2nd player quit the game without having to reset the game, or you can return back to "Camp Castaway".

Overall: As an adult I found this game fun and entertaining and give it an 8.0 game score. It is hard to find multiplayer games, and since NICK has released many character themed games you can look forward to many new adventures with your Nicktoon friends. You can play this game with your child and not be bored.
