Just an OK game, overall.

User Rating: 8.5 | Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island GBA
Seeing as how this game has been available for over six years, I really thought that someone else would've reviewed this game by now. But seeing as how nobody else has done so, I have decided to chip in. The graphics are good, the sound is good, the plot is basic, but not lazy, as it does TELL a story. The game plays more like a puzzle than a traditional platform game as the characters don't do any attacking, and they are focused on collecting machine parts and hearts in order to seal an evil creature called the Mawgu back into a volcano before it spreads its evil all over the world. Spongebob blows bubbles and can travel through dirt; Danny Phantom can pass through certain blocks, as well as see and land on other blocks that the other characters can not; Timmy Turner can launch himself from rings in any direction he chooses, and later turn into a comet that can smash through certain walls; and Patrick can grab onto grass panels that the other characters can not grab onto, and he can shoot himself out of a cannon and parachute/glide to places that the other characters can't reach. Despite the character skill diversity and the stage design diversity, the game feels a little shorter than it should have been. The difficulty challenge feels too easy in the earlier stages, and too hard in the later stages, with little middle ground in between. While it's not the best licensed game by any means, it's certainly a lot better than many others, but I'd recommend renting it before choosing to buy it. :) For those who do choose to buy it, the game is a fun and entertaining ride for the people who love "Nicktoons." 8) Enough said, true believers! ;)
