Up close you might see some minor graphical problems. But there's hardly anything here you can complain about.

Commentary, in a Madden game you've basically heard it all by the 5th or 6th game, all the regular comments at least. Not in NHL. The sound design team did a fantastic job; using tons of dialog takes on any given event. You might hear familiar commentary but it usually stays pretty natural sounding.

That amount of detail is everywhere in this game. You start noticing goalies using different moves and variations to block shots, you start noticing how despite being a deep game previously it's now become even more subtle (but it doesn't have to be, you can make it very easy, with lots of big checks if you want), you start noticing some exploits against a regular opponent; so you go and make custom plays to give your team the upper hand. There's A LOT to take in with this game. Making it a great value.

Personally, I'm going through the Be A Pro mode right now. I thought I knew something about hockey but much like Madden has given me a much more thorough understanding of the sport this has been doing the same. Be A Pro has let me slowly lace up my skates and become an NHL guru. Not to mention Be A GM mode will give you another perspective on the game.

I haven't dived into the online stuff yet because I'm temporarily internet free (or at least Live free). But when I do I'll sure I'll do triple back flips and spins before hitting the lag-free waters. Read other reviews to find out about online.

The graphics and audio are very polished, the gameplay is incredible, and I haven't tried the online. Buy it
