EA have put out yet another excellent hockey title to bring the franchise into yet another decade. However owners of NHL 09 may wanna hold out on the big spend unless they are looking to hook up with friends online with the Online Leagues modes. Unfortunately EA seem to have a two to three year policy on introducing major updates which continue to hamper the EA Sports range.

All the usual features are here. Be a Pro Mode, Stanley Cup, Foreign Leagues. But it's just done so much more slicker this time 'round. The graphics are in a league of it's own. Not just in the HD details you'd expect from a Xbox 360 title but also in the execution. A player cops a slapstick puck in the chins... he starts to hobble about in pain. Goalie misses a deflection he starts flipping and diving to grab it. As with every Hockey title before it's the crazy randomness that keeps you coming back. This title is no exception.

Having not played NHL 11 as yet I can't comment as to whether this a better alternative or not to the latest incarnation of the NHL series. But on it's own merits it makes a great bargain basement title!
