I bought this game tuesday and have played it nonstop for 2 days. The reason I give NHL such a chance is b/c I want it to be good. It looks amazing and sounds even better but the fact of the matter is...it's the same arcade hockey game that came out last year. They added "board play" which should be called magnetized board play bc if someone is close enough, ur movement goes directly into the boards. You cant go up, down, left or right, u are magneted to the boards and player. You can poke check all day long but all u will see is ur stick clipping thru the puck and the players legs. Once again, the only way to score is the right stick dekes. This game is literally NBA live on ice minus black guys. The only way to score is w an open lane to the net that you get with 360's and unstoppable dekes, then as long as u do 5-10 stick dekes in a matter of a second(which is impossible) you will score. There are rarely goals scored from outside the goal crease unless they're tipped in the goal crease. The graphics(which have not changed a bit) are the only thing that keeps this game at an 8. Once again EA has taken the sim aspect of a sport out of the game and as long as the online arcade nhl fans are around...EA will keep putting out this game and keep getting very overrated reviews. Maybe one day ea will put screened slap shots and wide open wrist shots from 5-10 feet goals in the game but until then, this game should be called NHL Arcade 2010. There are not 5-10 breakaways a game in the nhl and there are def not 360 moves turning into goals happening every game.
