is the game better than a 6.5? probably, but when i compare it to nhl 08 and nhl 09, it's not nearly as good as they are. for one thing, the game tempo is slowed down from the previous years. secondly, controlling the players seems more clunky. thirdly, and probably the most frustrating thing, the passing is awful. sometimes your passes end up ten feet beyond your player, or the pass will be so slow that it gets intercepted before it gets to who youre passing to. (i know, i know, passes arent perfect in real life, but hey, it's a video game and youre playing it to have fun). the way to score has changed too. one-timers work almost every time now, while it's much harder to score now on a basic snap shot. the AI is at an all time worse in this years version. defensemen just standing there and watching an opposing player skate by him --- 2 on 1's turn into 1 on 1's because, for no apparent reason, the computer player decides to stop himself instead of going with you to score --- players skating to areas that makes no sense to be in at that point... it's just much more frustrating
one good thing, the new fighting mode is pretty cool though. it's nothing fantastic but alot more fun than the old hockey games.
i am a fan of the EA hockey games, but this was a step backwards
