NHL 09, the masterpiece

It's hard to try to top your game that comes year after year in September, with the same sport, the same style, and the same game. But EA Sports, despite their look, delivered one of the most awe inspiring games I've ever played.

1) Gameplay - the only thing that matters in my book is gameplay, it's face paced, driven by smart AI opponents, requiring you to never do the same thing twice. Small things such as blocking, stick lifting - puts it above its previous installments.

2) Graphics - again this year, such realistic graphics are incredible, the detail from the equipment, to the benches, to the fans, there's just not much else you can say

3) Content
a) Dynasty - your basic 25 season mode as you as the GM
b) Create a Pro - like Madden did, this is by far the best part of this game, the realism really shows here, you start in the minors, shift by shift, playing smart, positional hockey.
c) Online mode - the best yet, from finding fast matches of players of your caliber, to reviewing each opponent at the end of the match saying if you would want to play them again or not. the only problem I've encountered was people leaving with 5 seconds left, thus making it a draw. but of course, that's not completely the fault of the game developpers but, at least give our wins and losses and not draws

Overall, any hockey fan should have this gem in their collections, across all platforms its a treat, and I can't wait for the next one.
