Need for Speed delivers on the sensation of speed and is a quality game as well. The Gameplay is great, and plays just fine on the GameCube, which I’ve heard some people are skeptical about the Cube’s controller. You have a good feel for the car while driving at high speeds. The game is an arcade style racer, and the only simulation style stuff is the modifications that are available for the cars. The graphics are great. The car models look perfect, the environments look good, and the sensation of speed is amazing. The game also features some great looking CG videos. The game’s sound is good with a very large soundtrack of songs from known artists. Also the groups featured are of multi varieties or genres. Such light metal groups like Rob Zombie and Static-X, or many different rap artists. The cars and sounds of the races are all very good too. The game features several racing types and multi player options. As well as a 116-race single player story mode. Overall, this game is great for someone looking to get away from the simulation style racers and get more of a just plain fun type of experience. The games car selection is a bit limited with only 25 different cars, but the modifications available are very well done and customizing your car and all the others in the game is very fun and makes them all different and helps the limited car selection. Also the game suffers from very few different tracks to race on. Most of which are just made up from random parts of other tracks. All of which seem to be generated from a bunch of portions of tracks randomly put together to make each race. Except for the Drag and drift races. These two limitations do take away from an otherwise great game.
