Started from the ground, now it's here

So I am glad that I held off on writing this review. My first impressions of the game were mixed. I saw some nostalgia to the NBA Hangtime/Jam days, but the frustrating controls and lack of any real game modes left me wanting for more. Lets fast forward to current state. This games feels like a complete 180 degree spin from where it was a launch. The inclusion of online is huge! More importantly it feels like a finished game. The addition of the shot meter allowed me to fine tune my layups and mid range game rather than heaving up a shot and praying it goes in with no rhyme or reason.

I have never been a "completionist" per say, but this game makes it kind of fun to unlock new balls and players based on winning tournaments. I should also add there is a decent amount of depth in game. Each player you use gains XP and new abilities after each game. So there is a sense of team building, but some players may find that doesn't really give them any motivation to use other players and max out their stats as well.

I feel that this game would have gotten better reviews if it were to come out in its current state, but the truth is it didn't. I am happy that the developer came through on their promise to update the game over time, but it would have been nice to see a finished product at launch. If i had reveiwed this game at launch it would have gotten a 6. Since I am doing it now, it gets an 8.
