NBA live 2001 wasn't a big step up from last years game. But it is still a great game.

Sorry for bad english. NBA live 2001 is a very good game in ps1 library. There are some new features in this game but overall it is the same exact thing as live 2000. The game modes are similar to the last year's game. Well i mean you have all the basic game modes such as exhibition, practice, season, play-offs and draft. But this year EA added a new game mode-NBA live challenge. In this mode you have challenges such as score 40 points with one player and for completing these challenges you get points. For points you can unlock rewards such as MJ or some courts and stuff like that. For gameplay - well i have to say it is pretty good. In this year's game EA concentrated on strategy. There is so much of it. Well i am not a coach or something, but you can do whatever you want with these tactics. You can throw the ball in the post to the center and try to backdown or shoot a hookshot or a jumpshot. Also you can call picks, call for isolation, quarter court and... the list goes on. On defense you can call for a double team, 2-3 zone, half and full court press, call for intentional fouls... Now let's talk about the graphics. They are good for PS1 standarts, but they aren't awesome or something. The player models also look pretty good. Well you can easy identify players by just looking at them. I mean Kobe looks like Kobe, Shaq looks like Shaq and Mourning looks like Mourning. The courts also look OK. I also like the net animations because it moves so smooth. So the graphics are good, but not brilliant. But thanks to the superb gameplay. If you are a fan of basketball video games you have to own this game, because it is really worth playing.
