If you are planning on buying an NBA live game must read this!!!!
First thing I want to say it that the framrates in the game are not to slow like gamespot said they were, all you need to do is increase the games speed and it plays very smoothly ( I put it up to about 60-65).
The gameplay is very similar to previous NBA live games with the superstar icon. There are a lot of different dunks you can execute in the game from the two handed power dunks to the 360 highflying dunks. The only problem that I would have with gameplay is that sometimes when u go up for a lay up or a dunk (note that this happends very rarly) your opponent will sometimes push you out of bounds and the refs call no foul.
Graphics: well I told you little at the beginning of this review how they were but I will go into detail. The player faces look very nice ( it truly resembles there real life counterparts). Court has nice reflections and shadows, and surprisingly the ball has detailed textures. The only thing you will notice is different thant the consoles is that you do not see your benchplayers or even your coach. Last thing about the graphics is that all the player have the same shoes which is really no big deal in the games
Value of game: well you could probably get the game for 15-20 dollars now, and I would say it is worth is because for multiple reasons the is great replay value ( with the dynasty mode) is probably (in my opinion) the best basketball game for the psp ( have played almost all of them).
Game modes: If you are curious with what game modes it has I will tell you. There is of course the quick game where you just choose a team and an opponent and play a game. There is to mini games ( I don't know how you will like them) one called handles where you press the keys it tells you to press ( kind of like dance dance revolution) and 2 ball where you try to score a certain amount of point before your opponent with some icons lying on the ground ( some freeze your opponent for a while while others give you a boost in amount of points). Then there is the allstar weekend with the dunk contest, 3 point, and all star game. Dynasty mode was added also and is very fun its exactly the same as the consoles version where you get to choose your coaching staff and stuff, and you are able to play multiple seasons with the team you choose ( 20 years I think) with the play offs and off season. there is also challanges you can do ( I think like 50 of them) all you do us, do what the task tells you to do like score 30 points and have 8 rebs with dirk and win the game (most take place in the fourth qtr so dont worry about having to play the whole game).
Sound: Now sound is amazing in this game it has very nice commentary ( what NBA live is know for) and good audience voice ( you can hear them scream defense or boo when the call is against the home team. The game also has a good soundtrack with many song on it ( you can also listen to the song you have on your psp during the game).
Cons: well I already told you one con in the game during the description of gameplay, but some more cons are that the game does not have a 1v1 game mode which I loved, it I think also does not have a practice mode which I sometimes wished the game had.
