Lovely gameplay and fantastic gaphics, a must have for sports gaming fans

Firstly, you don't have to like basketball to play NBA 2K9 on the PC. From the moment go, you are straight onto the court and playing some ball. The gameplay is brilliant with realistic animations from player faces to rebounding and shooting. What I loved, and I am a newbie to next gen basketball games, was that every player had their own distictive style of shooting, from the quick flick of shaun Marrion to the drawn-out, sling-shot of a J that is akin to Michael Redd. You actually feel like you are that player knocking down that late three or rejecting a miss-timed lay-up.

You have the usual game modes such as career, multiplayer and quck-match but the best thing to do is to either sit down and battle it out with the AI (which is impressively varied through the difficulty settings) or get a mate and play him.

Stadiums and crowd animations are good, complemented by quality commentary that is not disjointed and actually takes notice of what is happening in match-time. Nice touches are while the game loads, you get a movie profile of both team's star players with real NBA clips and well put together half-time reports.

I do reccommend playing this game with a gamepad as the keyboard controls can get on your nerves a bit but overall, just a brilliant game. Slight flaws are quite 'hefty on the old rig' moments when you get a fully drawn out view of the stadium, especially at the 6ers place, where it takes ages to load. Apart from that, a must buy sports game, whatever your style.
