Zero the hero!

User Rating: 7.5 | Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero N64
I liked this game very much. I know the N64 version doesn't have cutscenes, it's too short, the gameplay is not perfect. I don't know it reminded me a bit of classic games like "Yie Ar Kungfu", where you move from right to left bashing up each adversary that comes along. Only this time with MK-moves and N64 graphics. The music is really nice by Dan Forden, it's very mystical. You roam these temples with the blue ninja and encounter these shaolin monks. There are different types; some have weapons, some are very big, some are meditating. Fighting these monks is a lot of fun. As you move through the levels you gain experience and gain new abilities. At one point you learn a move that lets you destroy enemies without realy fighting. At this point the enemies also become to tough to fight and that's a shame; fighting was fun.
You'll also encounter numerous level-bosses. On a couple of them you can perform a fatality. Too bad it isn't a classic Sub-Zero fatality and only twice in the whole game. Some levelbosses are characters from MK4, like Fujin the wind god, Quan Chi the sorcerer and Shinnok the elder God. Maybe they rushed the game to get it in stores before the release of MK4 because the game is so short and the later levels are the worst. A pity, they were onto something wit this game i think.
Finally i would like to add that on the N64 you don't get any bonus for defeating Shinnok as opposed to the PSX-version.
