Best version available, but we've seen it all before.

User Rating: 6.8 | Mortal Kombat 4 N64
Mortal Kombat 4 did 2 major things. The first thing is bring the deries into the world of 3D. The other thing was that it proved that the Mortal Kombat series was starting to run out of gas. Dispite its similarities to other MK games, MK4 still manages to be quite fun. We all know hoe this works. You pick a fighter and to anything you can to get to the boss so you can fight the boss and win the game. With the move into 3D, you can side step. It's cool, but it doesn't really help you avoid any attacks, and it doesn't change the game that much. Something else that they added to the game is weapons. byu pressing a simple button combination, you wil pull out a weapon that you can beat your opponent with. Unfortunately, when you get hit, you will drop your weapon, so your opponent will have the oppertunity to pick it up and use it against you. Some arenas also have things like rocks that can be thrown at your opponent. This can be incredibly useful. The control is solid, but the stupid N64 controller makes it a little uncomfortable. Dispite that, every thing else is perfect. The graphics are much better than the Playstation version, which kind of suprised me. While nothing is much clearer, every thing is much more fluid. This is the more pleasing of the 2 versions to watch. The sound is exactly the came. Great sound effects and music. Mortal Kombat 4 is a game that we've all played before, and might not want to play again. If you already have other versions of MK, you might want to pass on this.
