Monster hunter tri is a great game if you have wifi. Without wifi the game isnt very good because of its weak story but the gameplay is still fun. The story is about a hunter who starts his life in moga village which is a village under attack by an elder dragon called the cedeaus. To be able to take on this underwater beast you must prepare by taking on a series of slaying, capturing, and gathering quests. Overall I would give story mode a 8.0 of 10. There is really no story behind it but the game is a ton of fun. If you aren't good at the game then you probably will not like story mode. There is an offline mode called arena mode which can be played with 1-2 people. With a friend this can be very fun and also rewarding because you will get coins to help give your character better skills, armors, and weapons. I would give the 2 player version of arena a 9.0 of 10 and the one player version a 8.0 of 10. Now the best part about this game is the online mode. You do not need a friend code to meet a person you can just go online and meet a bunch of random hunters and kill some monsters with them. There is a friends list though which has 6 and a half pages which is about 50 friends. There are many weapons, armors, and two monsters that can only be accessed through online mode. You're hunter will get stronger by getting new armor sets and weapons and of course when you get better at the game. I would give online mode a 20 out of 10 because it is free and it feels like you are playing an online game on your computer. I would give the game play a 9 of 10 because its fun but you character flexes after everything he does which makes him just stand there showing off his muscles while a giant monster is attacking him. The controls take time to get used to. Most people instantly give this game a bad review because they cant get the controls right. I play with the wii remote which sometimes me do the wrong attack but nothing major. Watching some online tutorials helps a lot because the game never really explains how to fight. I also recommend buying a usb keyboard with this game since it makes it a lot easier to talk to people.
