For one, I haven't played the old version of Monkey Island 2; I was too young when it came out and I could not find it anywhere when I grew up and fell in love with the series.
I did stumble upon the special edition however, and it was a very entertaining experience.
The graphics have been updated, from plain pixel dots to decent-looking 2 dimensional sprites, so the characters and locations look more alive.
The puzzles, however, are what this game is all about. The inside jokes, the witty lines, the outright bizarre things one can do inside the game just for the fun of it, are classic in the Monkey Island series and they are of course present in this game as well.
I finished it in about 7 hours, which is not much compared to most of today's games, but they were 7 hours filled with humorous entertainment - and of course, there is always the temptation to play it again... Just for the fun of it!
This game will make you laugh out loud, or at least snicker. It is a classic, and the special edition (with the upgraded graphics) makes it a treat.
