ModNation Racers on the PSP is a disappointing, bland kart racer that really shouldn't of happened.

User Rating: 6 | ModNation Racers PSP
I may have made the title sound really harsh, but it is true to a certain extent. I was very excited to get this game for a family reunion that I really didn't want to go to, and I ended up playing card games with my cousin instead of playing this as I originally intended.
It is a good game that offers new things that no other game does, but it should have stayed on the PS3, the racing is very stale and boring, the graphics are fuzzy and unattractive, and the customization tools that the game is trying to be original with are confusing and frustrating to use.
Alright, now that I've used all of my negative adjectives in my vocabulary to describe the game, lets break this down.
Pros.
+ Very Original
+ One of the Very Few Kart Racers Available for the PSP
Cons.
- Too Difficult
- Unappealing Visuals
- Stale and Boring Racing
- Customization Options are Frustrating

Story: 8/10
The game attempts to put a story behind the story mode, and its alright, nothing groundbreaking. But it is fun to see the characters interact with each other off the race track.

Sound: 6/10
Nothing special here, very basic sounds and music. Everything is very forgettable.

Graphics: 5/10
This is the opposite of smooth, edges are jagged and fuzzy. Everything is just ugly and not fun to look at.

Presentation: 7/10
Everything is fairly good, again the graphics are a dampener, but they made a great attempt at it.

Difficulty: 4/10
Hope you like the 3rd place podium, because that's about as high as you'll see most of the game.

Controls: 5/10
Stale, difficult, bland, and frustrating are a few words to describe them. The drifting mechanic that works very well for the PS3 fails on the PSP.

Gameplay: 5/10
I don't know a right word to use for this, but it just doesn't work out.

"Fun" Factor: 7/10
It's possible to have fun with this game, but I certainly didn't

Should I get it?
The price did drop, and I really regret buying it for $30 especially knowing that I never buy games for more than $25. Serious disappointment, I ended up selling it.

Total: 5.8/10
