Don't let its cartoon look fool you. This game is for real.

User Rating: 8 | Jikkyou Powerful Major League 2 Wii WII
I must admit, when I first saw this game, I thought it was going to be a cartoon-like rip-off of a baseball game. Boy, was I wrong. MLB Power Pros may look like a kiddie game, but it is an excellent buy for anyone looking for a baseball game.

Graphics: The graphics are well done. The players have no fingers, no mouth and no legs, yet they still accurately resemble their real-life counterparts. The Major League stadiums are accurately depicted and can make you feel as if you're really playing in Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park. 8/10

Controls: There are three different control options in this game: Wii Remote + Nunchuck, Classic Controller, and Gamecube controller. I do not have a Classic Controller, but the Wii Remote + Nunchuck and Gamecube configurations work very well during game play. However, die-hard Wii motion-sensitive fans will be disappointed to hear that there are no motion controls during normal play. 8/10

Game play: There are many different game modes that keep the game fresh. First off is your standard exhibition mode, where you can play a single game. When you get bored of that, try playing Season mode. This mode is fun, but there are a lot of dialogue boxes that you'll probably want to skip through. The other big mode is Success mode, where you create your own player and try to get from college to the majors, while also focusing on everyday life. This mode focuses heavily on dialogue boxes that you'll be forced to read your first time through, although they have their moments. Also, this mode doesn't have a whole lot to do with actually playing baseball, and the idea of having the ghost of a long gone ballplayer take over your body just seems… well… dumb (it is possible to avoid this). There are several other smaller modes. You can create your own mini league with up to 6 teams, take part in a home run derby, and collect coins as you play the game. You can use these coins to purchase baseball cards of real players and other goodies. There is a mode where you can use the Wii Remote using motion-sensitive controls, but it is very similar to Wii Sports' baseball and is sure to disappoint. 8/10

Sound: The sound effects are good. The sounds you'd expect to hear from a baseball game are all here, except for the infield chatter (which makes sense since the players don't have mouths). The in-game announcer can be annoying at times, but he does offer some interesting in-game info from time to time. The music is up-beat and fun to listen to. 8/10

Overall, this is a great baseball game for the Wii. Despite its lack of good use of motion-sensitive controls and an awful lot of dialogue boxes, this is a game that casual and hardcore gamers alike will enjoy.
