A solid baseball game.

User Rating: 8.7 | MLB 06: The Show PSP
I have played numerous baseball games throughout the years from the triple plays, to the mvp, 989's mlb series, to the 2k series, and now MLB '06: The Show. Compared to the 2K6 version on the psp, MLB '06 is a very solid game.
What stands out the most of the game is that the gameplay is flawless as its ps2 counterpart. Almost anyone who plays this game would notice that it is very similar to the MVP series by EA Sports. Pitching is pretty simple. Select the type of pitch, next select the location, and then use the pitching meter to determine how hard the ball should be thrown. Batting is pretty much the same as the previous mlb games. The game smoothly runs without much slowage in frames (very little but could be seen in the pitching motion), and makes up for it in graphics. Although the game is a watered down version of the ps2, many of the ps2 features are still availible on this psp version. Even the online play is amazing since there is very little or no lag.
There are a few things that the game lacked. I believe it lacked a psp-ps2 connection so that the saves from the ps2 or psp season/franchise could be played on the other system. Another part that the game lacked is its roster download save feature. It could only be saved if you save it after creating a season. It should be immediately be saved so that the rosters could be loaded rather than going through season mode. Also, when playing in a higher difficulty, it is impossible to throw shutout or no hitters. Otherwise, it's a vast improvement of last year's SCEA mlb game. So if you had a choice, pick MLB '06: The Show for its presentation, gameplay, and replay factor.
