Mini-Review

User Rating: 9 | Metro: Last Light (Limited Edition) PC

Metro 2033 was an outstanding game that mixed first person shooter gameplay, elements of survival horror, a strong narrative and fantastic atmosphere altogether – wrapping all of that in stunning visuals. It was a glorious mixture, but not flawless. Metro: Last Light does practically all of that but even better. The gameplay has been refined and there are less linear environments than there were in the previous game (with more sandbox style environments akin to the Frontline level of Metro 2033, but more open ended and more frequent).

The game is more stable than its predecessor and even more graphically impressive. It's quite possibly the most demanding PC game on the market right now, and it combines this with a fantastical art style to create something truly special. Still, the story and atmosphere take the crown here. Yet even in this amazing game you will find some flaws; the stealth – even though more fair on the player – is also unnecessarily easier than it used to be; for some bizarre reason, immersion-breaking hitmarkers have been included in the game. Nevertheless, Metro: Last Light is brilliant. It is a must-play for fans of the Metro 2033 Universe.
