Essential Collection? Its really good, but its missing some things.

User Rating: 8.5 | Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection PS2
I've been a big Metal Gear fan since I first played the Gameboy Color game Metal Gear Solid Ghost Babel after that for 2 years I wasn't graced with the masterpieces that was Metal Gear Solid. Until I met a friend of mine who had me played MGS 1 and MGS 2, after that my loved for the series expanded and so I would always play MGS at my friends house this was also true with MGS 3 and MGS Portable Ops. Then I heard of the MGS Essential Collection a pack that also included the Substance version of MGS 2 and Subsistence version of MGS 3 along with MGS 1 for $30. When I got the packaged deal I saw some great stuff redesigned box art cover and disc covers to match each game MGS 1 Red, MGS 2 Blue, MGS3 Green. However first thing I noticed with the MGS 1 box was it did not include the extra VR missions such as where you played as the Cyborg Ninja Gray Fox, I then opened the MGS 2 case saw that it was the one Substance disc that came with the VR missions and the skate boarding mini game, I then opened up the third one which just had one Subsistence disc I found this extremely disappointing. Since I played Snake Eater at least seventeen times I was really hoping to play the extra Snake vs Monkey missions and play the MSX versions of Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, I can see why they didn't include this disc because it had the first MGO on it and by that time the servers were closed but I still find it unexcuseable for them to not include the MGS VR Missions disc.

All in all this collection is still very good and includes some of the best games that ever came out on the PS/PS2 each one with that's its very own masterpiece, however I wouldn't call it the MGS Essential Collection because that usually insinuates that the fans need to have this collection.
