Played the Original games, and this collection is sure not to be missed

User Rating: 9.5 | Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection PS2
The games are definetly well WELL worth the money. Every aspect of the series is very unique and original. The storyline, that combines all three games, is one of thee best story lines written for any game, in my opinion. The Metal Gear Solid games have a way of really making you feel like you are on some kind of a stealth mission. In short, this is a must-buy for anyone that is deciding to play MGS 4 and wants to be filled in on the story or someone who just wanted to try it out. There are some good and bad things about this set, though:

GOOD:
-You get every Metal Gear Solid game in one package
-AMAZING IN-DEPTH storyline
-The Substance and Substinance versions of MGS 2 and MGS 3 respectively
-Action-packed game with little or no "dead" or boring moments
-Memorable music
-Fun inside jokes or easter eggs that are somewhat hidden throughout the game

GOOD OR BAD (depending on the buyers tastes)
-New cover art
-No preview shots on the back of the cases, just the FOX HOUND symbol with textured backgrounds and a color. MGS 1 is red. MGS 2 is blue. MGS 3 is green.
-Discs on ALL the games look identical, just black CDs on the front.
-No graphic enhancements on the original MGS 1 game

BAD:
-The Metal Gear Solid 1 game is a direct "cut and paste" of the Playstation 1 version, NO CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO IT. It literally boots the game up with the orginal Playstation 1 symbol that it shows at the beginning of each PS1 game. This is a pretty cool thing in my opinion to be playing the old original retro game but this means that you MUST have a PSone memory card to save your data. PS2 memory cards cannot be detected.
-Controls can be hard to remember at first but can be adapted to after while.
-No appearnce of the 2nd disc on the MGS 3 game, which had some side games like mulitplayer mode, snake vs monkeys, etc...

This collection is suitable to buy for yourself, and it also makes a great gift. Anyone who is interested in the MGS series should definetly think about buying this set. It's cheap, especially considering there are 3 games. And 2 of the games are the bonus editions. Either way, you definetly can't go wrong when you buy this series.
