Where to begin. I've played MGS, and MGS2, and I must say that I found MGS3 to be the most enjoyable experience out of the three games. I believe the main contributing factors to this are the controlable camera, the superior graphics, and the amazing story that explains, basically "the beginning of it all".

Words can not begin to describe how interested I am in this series. If you have played MGS, or MGS2, or are even remotely interested in this series, I highly suggest you pick up MGS3. There are moments where patience pays off, but often times you can get away with playing aggressively.

My first playthrough (using a walkthrough/FAQ) took me around 19 hours (including paused time, and cutscenes... without which it was probably more like 17 hours) and with each consecutive playthrough, the time got less. On my last playthrough, it only took around 7 hours.

Also, it is worth it to try to get the special items, like stealth technology, and the EZ gun. Stealth Tech. alone makes the game awesome. I feel like the predator!

Long story short, this is a GREAT game in and of its self, let alone the fact that its the first part of a great series.
