I take back everything I said, this game is clearly an AAA through and through.

User Rating: 9.1 | Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater PS2
I made the promise that if this title was given a 9.0 or higher rating I would buy it right away, when it fell to the fate of an 8.7 it fell on my wish list and quickly fell to the back of my mind. Upon reading other reviews and just comments from other gamers on various websites I caved and bought it, something to push GTA: SA out of my PS2 and I have to say it was one of the best choices I made in 2004. The Graphics are good, there is alot of small things, alot of the background is something Snake can interact with which is something we don't see all that often with types of this sort and that detail in alot of the overall enviroment makes this game visually appealing. I find that some of the chracters are not revolutionary graphically but they are still impressive none the less. The Cut Scenes are good, all be it over often, but given a story of this depth its needed and that makes it acceptable The Gameplay goes much like the second one except for a few aspects they have added but overall its similar. What makes this game stunning is the storyline, by far the best and most compelling storyline on PS2 this year without a doubt perhaps even among the best in gaming over all in 2004. The story is deep and to my suprise very graphic it is done in a very R rated well scripted action movie sort of way and that makes it a compelling play for most gamers over 13. I have to admit that its a very addictive game, almost like watching a TV show like 24 or the Soprano's there are moments in this game that just make me say, Well yeah I should make dinner, go shopping, take my insulin but you just have to keep playing because something will happen that will just knock you on your ear. Make no mistake the story is this games biggest selling point, perhaps one of the deepest I have seen for any game of its kind. The Sound is interesting, its fairly well done in most aspects of the game, and some of the effects are just so well done, you would think that the folks at Konami feed someone rotten food till he was sick just to get the sound right when it happens to Snake. Its detailed and well done in a nutshell among the best for this year. The Value is the tricky part, as much as the story is just fantastic I could never see myself wanting to play the game again, because I know what happens now and once you remove that element of the story the game becomes rather dull, even areas were I had died and had to replay were frustraing and boring to me because I knew what shocking twist would occur in the next cut scene. Its a worth while buy but when you are done you truly are done with this game, but that should not stop the gamer from buying it because for the duration of the game you will get your money's worth no question. -Z
