Fun beautiful graphics different style game as compared to previous MGS titles but great addition to the series

Ok first off let me say that I am a die-hard Metal Gear fan. I bought the original US version in 1988 for the original NES. When I originally played MGS2 I hated Raiden but I think that was more to the disappointment that Solid Snake wasn't a playable character past the short tanker introduction. Snake is such an iconic character and at the time I felt like I wasn't getting my "snake fix". However after MGS4 I begin to respect Raiden a little more and his different style of sword combat makes for a good next generation soldier within the same world rather than the traditional gun filled environment of Metal Gear. So you get a new experience. When I saw the previews of the game I must admit I was hesitant. But it being part of my beloved Metal Gear I waited for the reviews which were mostly positive and decided to give it a chance. I am glad that I did.If you are only about being the stealthy soldier experience from the older MG games than this game might not be for you. However if you are open to a new experience and enjoy the Metal Gear series I recommend this game. The Boss characters as well as the supporting characters aren't as interesting as the other games but they work. At times the dialogue, voice acting and the story itself isn't as interesting as Snake's typical adventures but for the most part the game delivers. The story mode is a good length and leaves you fulfilled usually with sum unique boss battles along the way which is a trademark of Metal Gear. The game has beautiful graphic scenery. The mechanics are executed well and are reminiscent at times of Ninja Gaiden, although it's a far different interactive approach from MG. Raiden is his own man. There are a few instances where the camera angles lack the proper attention but it's not enough to steer you away and player control is excellent. The music is uniquely fitting for each situation and provides its own blend of excitement to this fast paced high energy hack and slash experience that rarely becomes boring. Most gamers who plays MG or even Ninja Gaiden will enjoy Rising.
