A jewel worth digging for

Althought there is a large cult following surrounding this series, not a lot of people have ever played a legends game. Which is unfortunate because the games themselves are amongst a small number games that made a successful transition from 2d to 3d. Others I can think of are Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy VII, and Metal Gear Solid.

That being said, the game is an excellent dungeon platformer, with exciting gameplay and a great story. You'll be sucked into the adventure whether you're a fan of the darker X series, or a fan of the Classic Megaman. The combat is intuitive, switching the camera from enemy to enemy and turning the angle while strafing is very fluid. Combat can get very tense when surrounded or fighting stronger reaverbots or bosses, and the music is great. The dungeon crawling is mixed with several RPGesque sidequests to acquire parts to build secondary weapons, large locations to explore, and even situations where your actions may change part of Kattelox islands overall appearance. The pacing of the game is good and depending on what difficulty you choose you can enjoy the game and it's quirkiness at a reasonable pace, or ramp it up and fight for your life. The bosses are fun to fight, and unlike most dungeon crawlers the bosses and certain events take place in the actual town of Kattelox.

All I can really say is I loved this game, a true Megaman game no matter who is concerned. Although finding a copy to play will be the most challenging part of the quest.
