What a marvel vs capcom game should be.

The game many have been waiting for another iteration of has finally come to pass. Being an avid MvC2 player i was waiting for this title to come out. Here is my rundown of the game.

Graphically it is what you want out of a fighter. Characters pop out and are the forefront of the action after all. The backgrounds are vibrantly done and attacks are flashy.

Now to the core of the review, gameplay. It doesn't have quite as difficult a control scheme as MvC2 did. The input controls are fluid, characters move like they should, and attacks just feel great to get off. The controls were dumbed down to one set of attack buttons for low, medium, and high. This isn't all a bad thing as it allows for more fluid attacks and a less painful curve for newcomers to the scene.

Some will complain that the number of characters in the game is upsetting, however when you think about it, MvC2 had a lot of double characters or those that played similar styles. Some omissions i wish were in there would be hayate and jin as those were two of my favorites from 2. I do believe that capcom plans to make a lot of them DLC though which anyone could see coming mile away.

The complete lack of spectator mode is a big turn off as you are forced to watch both players cards clash together and watch their life bars go up or down. Hopefully this is fixed with a future update as it is commonplace to have spectator mode.

Overall the game is satisfying to play and though i am not a fan of making too many characters DLC, this will unfortunately be the way of it. If you love fast paced fighting, this is a game you should certainly try out.
