Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds has proven itself and became the most addictive fighting game I've ever played!

While I didn't buy into the hype surrounding Marvel vs Capcom 2, I bought it anyways when it was released on the Xbox Live Arcade, and it proved to be a solid 2D-fighter. However, that was it. While I did appreciate seeing a good two-thirds of the MARVEL roster being X-Men and I loved the addition of Resident Evil's Jill Valentine, that was it for me. The game is still good for a quick match or two now and then, but nothing more. But of course, I was overjoyed when Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds was announced, especially once more Resident Evil characters were confirmed (this time Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker being thrown into the mix). I could not wait for it to be released, so of course, it was pre-ordered. Once it arrived on my doorstep, I immediately popped it in. Very quickly I grew disappointed because Capcom had lied about including a "robust storyline" in the game. There is no robust storyline. There is NO storyline at all. Maybe they got lazy, I don't know. But that was disappointing. It was one of the biggest things I was anticipating in the game, as story modes in fighting are always fairly simple and linear. Fight him, then cutscene, the fight her, and so on. Boring! However, while I still wish a story mode was included, that took nothing away from the sheer amount of fun this game is! Unlike MVC2, in which I could only sit down for twenty minutes playing, MVC3 has me so excited, I can not put the controller down. The Arcade mode acts a simple story mode, but little story provided. However, each character does have an ending, so I suppose that helps. Speaking of the endings, I get giddy at the nods towards the histories each of these characters have. Personally, I love Wesker's ending, where nods towards Lisa Trevor and Alexia Ashford are thrown in for good fun. The graphics are gorgeous, and the fighting mechanics have been simplified, which is great for me, as it allows me to pull of amazing looking things with no effort at all, something I could never do in it's predecessor. The costumes are so far, very weak. It seems, for the most part, Capcom has just changed the color schemes of the default outfits, and not offering anything new. Where is Chris and Wesker's STARS outfits?! That is what I want to see. Despite lazy costume choices, and a very limited story, MVC3 is still a blast to play. It's so good, the minor mistakes it has made can not take away from this perfect game! 10/10
